Quark Statics,ic effective action model for quark dynamics, and from this model to the leadinq log model for the static qq? force problem. In the second part, I discuss the analysis of the leading log model, with emphasis on recent analytic investigations which give the leading behavior of the model at small and at large qq? separations.

Self Energy of Massless Quarks in the MIT Bag,as introduced in analogy with the attraction of parallel conducting plates; unfortunately all attempts to find a similar negative energy in the bag have failed. There is a good physical reason for this failure: this zero-point energy causes an empty bag to have energy . and hence makes the vacuum unstable.

Analytic Regularization and Renormalization of Nonperturbation Theories,we shall be concerned here is the regularization and renormalization of a nonperturbatlon theory as represented by the nonlinear equations derived from it. We will describe a technique that should allow one to . regulate and ultimately renormalize the equation.

Topological Charge in Lattice Gauce Theory,y. I give a simple expression for the topological charge of lattice gauge theories in four dimensions and I present the preliminary result of a Monte Carlo calculation of the distribution of this quantity on a small lattice In SU(2) gauge theory. The measured distribution is compatible with the dilute gas picture of certain pseudoparticles.

Gluon Condensation in QCD and Supersymmetric QCD,e realm of the perturbation theory, in which one particle requires one field with prescribed characteristics. More dynamical aspects of gauge theories must be understood, and QCD and supersymmetric versions of it will certainly play primary roles as prototypical theories.

The M.I.T. Bag Model in the Context of QCD,ose of this talk to recount the successes or short comings of the bag model. Instead, I will try to motivate the development of a possible “derivation” of the model from the fundamental theory of strong interactions, that is, from Quantum Chromodynamics.
