Two-Dimensional Echocardiography in Pericardial Diseaseular calcification, persistent left superior vena cava, and others are much more easily identified using this technique rather than M-mode. In addition, two-dimensional echocardiography is helpful in localizing loculated pericardial effusions. This was virtually impossible with the M-mode examination.
