Kutta–Joukowski (KJ) Theorem Applied to a Rotorl for vorticity-based analyses of wings and blades. The theorem is applied to a rotor with a finite or an infinite number of blades. Applications of the formulae for the case of large tip-speed ratios are provided at the end of the chapter.

Tip-Losses with Focus on Prandlt’s Tip Loss Factor chapter consists in the derivation of Prandtl’s tip-loss factor. The developments are done using general expressions for the velocity in the wake. Different expressions of Prandtl’s tip-loss factor are then provided.

Wake Expansion Modelswake models such as the ones from Frandsen or Rathmann or only briefly mentioned. The different models are compared to each other. Results from this chapter are used in Chap.?. to link near-wake and far-wake parameters and in Chap.?. to study the influence of expansion on tip-losses.
