Soil Solarization, been criticized by the environmentalists for polluting the ecosystem. Besides, there is inherent danger of resurgence of weeds resistant to herbicides. Use of solar energy as soil solarization for controlling soil-borne pests including weeds, pathogens and nematodes has potential for reducing the dependency on chemicals.

Fate and Properties of Herbicides in Tropical Soils,nerals show more than 90% dominance. Since in the tropics soils of other orders are also used for crop production, the result is a more diverse and complex mineralogy, which affects the chemical and physical properties of soil in a manner similar to that observed in any other region of the world.
