,Water—Where Does It Come from?,uced later in the stellar interiors, maybe in this context extremely massive stars (so called population III?stars) played an important role. Only after their explosion to supernovae, these oxygen atoms were set free into interstellar space where they could combine with hydrogen to form water under the appropriate conditions.

Several examples of extremophiles are given. Life cannot exist without a constant supply of energy. On Earth, this energy comes from the Sun.
