The Hypertonic and Hypotonic Syndromes,ed in osmotic homeostasis: the water repletion reaction and the cell volume regulatory response. The former provides a frame of reference for understanding the pathogenesis of these disorders, while the latter provides a means for considering the changes in brain volume which can attend osmoregulatory disorders.
