Three Peculiar Objects From a New Sample of Radio Galaxiesabove +60°, total flux density greater than 100 mJy at 1.4 GHz and angular size larger then 4′ have been selected and observed with the VLA at 1.4 and 4.9 GHz. Associated Absorption and Radio Source GrowthEvidence is presented that C IV associated absorption is seen preferentially towards steep-spectrum radio sources of small linear size. A model for the clearing out of absorbing gas along the jet axis as the radio source grows is proposed. The general properties of the absorbers suggest that AGN environments are gas-rich.

Broadband Optical Colours of Intermediate Redshift QSO Host Galaxiestical comparison between radio-loud and radio-quiet objects, we selected pairs of objects with approximately the same redshift and V-magnitude. Data was obtained in 1994 at the ESO NTT and at the Nordic Optical Telescope, primarily in the R band, but some of them also in V and/or I.

The Host Galaxies of Luminous Radio-Quiet Quasars suggested from studies of lower nuclear luminosity quasars and Seyfert galaxies. We show how simple theoretical models of quasar activity predict such a limit, and suggest how this picture must be changed in light of our results.
